elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\t<p>II Parco archeologico di Castel Seprio \u00e8 stato costituito alla fine degli anni Cinquanta\u00a0del Novecento, dopo la rivalutazione della chiesetta di S. Maria foris portas nel 1944 e a seguito dei risultati ottenuti attraverso il disboscamento dell&#8217;area delle chiese\u00a0nel\u00a0castrum\u00a0e i\u00a0numerosi saggi di scavo\u00a0eseguiti su tutto il pianoro. Si conservano i resti del castrum\u00a0(insediamento fortificato)\u00a0e del borgo dell\u2019antica Sibrium, con notevoli testimonianze religiose di et\u00e0 paleocristiana, longobarda e medioevale. Il sito conobbe frequentazioni dalla tarda et\u00e0 del Bronzo\/prima et\u00e0 del Ferro, ma divenne importante come centro difensivo nella tarda et\u00e0 imperiale per la sua posizione\u00a0strategica: consentiva infatti il controllo della strada proveniente dal Canton Ticino,\u00a0collegamento tra l&#8217;area transalpina e\u00a0la fertile pianura dell\u2019Italia del Nord. Divenuto castrum\u00a0in epoca tardoromana, fu centro di una certa rilevanza in et\u00e0 longobarda e carolingia. Venne\u00a0infine\u00a0raso al suolo\u00a0dai Visconti\u00a0nel 1287. All&#8217;interno del parco \u00e8\u00a0visitabile\u00a0l&#8217;Antiquarium\u00a0allestito nell&#8217;ex conventino\u00a0di S. Giovanni,\u00a0piccolo edificio con corte che\u00a0conserva\u00a0affreschi di et\u00e0 rinascimentale nell&#8217;abside della chiesa conventuale; vi sono esposti reperti che raccontano la storia e la elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\t<p>Immerso nel Borgo antico di Castiglione Olona, posto tra antichi edifici, si trova il nobile Palazzo Branda, residenza del cardinale Branda Castiglioni. Il palazzo fu edificato in due periodi storici differenti, diviso in due corpi di fabbrica distinti. Essi sono uniti da un terzo elemento architettonico dove sono collocate la Cappella del palazzo e la loggia rinascimentale: quest&#8217;ultima fungeva proprio da collegamento tra i due distinti corpi di fabbrica.<br \/><br \/>L&#8217;edificio pi\u00f9 antico viene fatto risalire al XIV secolo. Il secondo corpo invece verr\u00e0 realizzato nel XV secolo per volont\u00e0 del cardinale, che decise di ampliare e arricchire la sua dimora. Questi furono i maggiori interventi sull&#8217;edificio, perch\u00e9 con la morte del cardinale il palazzo rimase pressoch\u00e9 invariato: si fecero solo piccoli interventi di risistemazione e di allargamento. Tra i vari esempi che potremmo prendere in considerazione, ci sono la realizzazione, nel XVI secolo, della stanza detta &#8220;della quadreria&#8221; e quella di una scala di collegamento tra i due piani dell&#8217;edifico, costruita in epoca settecentesca, vicino alla Cappella di San Martino. Questa fu riscoperta dopo tantissimi anni e nel 1982 fu interamente restaurata. Essa ospita una significativa serie d&#8217;affreschi eseguiti da Lorenzo di Pietro, il Vecchietta, che tra il 1437 ed il 1439, ne realizz\u00f2 l&#8217;intera
